~7-4-04~ Happy Independence Day!!

well, i'm bored! clay is asleep ad bob went to play softball.

my newest addiction.....no limit texas hold'em poker!!!!

not actually playing it, but watching it on tv. i've watched for a while now. bravo has a celebrity version that has been on and now espn has a regular poker championship on now. i'm watching last year's, but this year's should be starting and the winning pot is like 5 million dollars!

i'm so exciting aren't i?!

well we ended up going to amish country yesterday. the money i spent!!! and we only went to 3 places!!!! i knew i was going to go broke at the candle shop!!! spent almost $300 on candles!!! but they should last for quite sometime. they had a quantity deal, so who could pass that up. if you buy 12 (case)large candles you get them for $12 a piece instead of $14. i realized that i don't so much like the food smells...i'm more of a flowery type person. well except for mulberry and cranberry those are 2 of my favorites. other great ones are the linen and the seashore. then we headed over to the hinie's cheese factory. we don't eat much cheese, all i got was a small block of sharp cheddar. i also got some different jams. they had kiwi jam. i'll tell you all how it ends up tasting. they also had mango butter, but i didn't know if i would like it or not, i don't think i am too into apple butter. i also got some grated romano and parmesan cheeses. i just tried some beef jerky and it is pretty good. i don't like the stuff they sell in the store, so i was surprised i liked it. we didn't try the trail bologna yet.

we then moved on to the bakery across the street. bought a ton of stuff there! they had cherry chocolate chip cookies. me being cheap, refer to previous post, i got the day old assortment of pastries. they cookies were kind of hard, but good. here what i thought were cream sticks turned out to be lemon and cream sticks. i thought that was different. they weren't as bad as i thought they were going to be. i also got some raspberry bread. didn't try that yet either. i passed on their black raspberry pie, since we were heading to the amish door for that, so i picked up a mini red raspberry pie there. didn't taste that yet either.

so then we head to the amish door. of course they DID NOT have any black raspberry pies!!!! my fault, it was late in the day....damn it!!!!! but they did have my favorite, amaretto fudge!!! then while we were there, they put up the sign that all the baked goods were 25% off, so we moved to the doughnut counter. bob got this huge apple fritter. i got some bismark's, which are basically a jelly doughnut, these are filled with raspberry!!! YUMMMMM, wish i would have got more than 2!! i also got some chocolate doughnut holes.

so basically all we got were candles and food!!! haha!!

yesterday was also the "First Annual Ewell Surf & Turf Extravaganza".

since we bought so much dessert at amish country, we scrapped the whole dessert on the grill thing, same with the side dishes. we made a fillet and strip steak, then had the jumbo shrimp and lobster. the shrimp was ok, but i like mine battered and fried. i don't like the texture of then so much, but they had a really good taste to them. i don't like lobster. it wasn't as bad as i remember, but it wasn't anything special. the fillet was AWESOME!!!!!! but then again, how could it not be?! so the 1st even went great, can't wait til next year. i still may get some salmon. i would really like to try those shark steaks, or swordfish steaks....even a tuna steak, just something different maybe. i'm sure we will be stocking up on ideas for next year.

well, i'm getting off here for now....maybe i'll be back on later tonight.
